Emergency Coordinator Manager I
Hiring Range: $50,000 - $65,000
Pay Band: 5

The Virginia Department of Emergency Management seeks a strong results and team oriented individual to manage a staff of professionals in the Operations Division. The incumbent will provide leadership for directing state level multi-agency response to emergencies and disasters. Will ensure the development and maintenance of operational programs and procedures; ensure facilities, equipment, and systems are maintained to provide for augmentation of the Virginia Emergency Operations Center; and serve as the Commonwealth of Virginia Emergency Communication Officer. The incumbent will also serve as a Staff Duty Officer on a rotating basis to include nights, weekends, and holidays. Some travel is required. This is a restricted position.
Qualifications: Working knowledge of local, state, and federal emergency operations systems as well as emergency response and recovery principles and concepts. Knowledge of communication systems and information technology. Considerable experience in a management or supervisory capacity. Project management and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate a wide range of functions under high stress conditions. Ability to lead and motivate a team; to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with diverse individuals and groups; and to analyze information and make sound decisions. Completion of ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800. Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
Preferred: College degree in public administration, business administration, emergency management or a related field. Equivalent applicable experience may substitute for a degree. Operational experience in emergency management preferred.
The selected applicant must be able to obtain a U.S. government secret security clearance. The selected applicant will be required to complete a Statement of Economic Interest and undergo a criminal background check to include fingerprinting. Position is restricted due to funding source(s).
